Cyberbotics Products About CyberboticsCyberbotics Ltd. (www.cyberbotics.com) is the leading company in mobile robot prototyping and software simulation. Cyberbotics develops custom simulation tools like the Sony Aibo robot simulator which was developed for Sony Corp., but it also develops and markets Webots, the award winning fast prototyping and simulation software for mobile robotics. Developed since 1996, Webots became a reference software used by over 500 universities and research centers worldwide. Cyberbotics was founded in 1998 by Olivier Michel, as a spin off company from the MicroComputing and Interface Lab (LAMI) of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, Lausanne (EPFL). Cyberbotics' mentors include Prof. Jean-Daniel Nicoud, Dr. Francesco Mondada and Dr. Takashi Gomi. The Webots mobile robotics simulation software provides a rapid prototyping environment for modeling, programming and simulating mobile robots. The included robot libraries enable the transfer of control programs to many commercially available real mobile robots. Webots comes with two different flavors: Webots PRO is more powerful and intended for research as it has additional features such as custom physics programming, fast simulation mode, and supervisor capability. The Webots EDU version is less powerful but much less expensive than PRO and is designed for academic environments and student labs. The software and manuals are available by electric download and the license key (as with the PRO) comes on a USB dongle to easily move from one computer to another. Works on Mac, Windows, and Linux computers. Many popular robots are modeled and available free with Webots, such as the e-puck by EPFL. |
